While steel shot may only be required in certain places such as wetlands, it can be beneficial to use it in upland areas as well. Unlike lead shot, steel shot will not contaminate irrigation channels or streams. Steel shot can also be a good choice if you plan to pursue different species at once and want to include waterfowl in the hunt.
