Details

New in 2012, is CCI's 22 LR Quiet ammunition. This 22 LR travelling at 710 FPS achieves 75% reduction in perceived noise over regular 22 LR ammo. In fact, this ammo produces similar noise as that of a pellet gun but with far better ballistics properties.

This ammo is quiet enough that hearing protection is not required according to the manufacturer. This product is ideal for taking care of troublesome varmints in areas where it is legal to shoot but noise is an issue.

This ammunition is also a great way to introduce youth shooters to the sport. When teaching a youngster to shoot for the first time it's nice for the youth student to be able to hear directions clearly and this ammo being 1/4 of the perceived noise makes for a great training tool. Note that this ammo while safe to shoot in semi-auto 22 LR's will usually not generate enough recoil to cycle the bolt so manual cycling will most likely be required. This is ideally suited for single shot type 22 LR's.

Steve Garretson ( Fri, 02 Nov 2012 08:14:27 +0000 ) : I bought some a while back and not only will it not cycle in my Ruger 10-22, it also will not feed reliably. Luckily it shot just fine in my old Winchester 67, bolt action. It's about as loud as a standard.177 pellet round (out of a rifle barrel) so it's great to use around the property and not annoy the neighbors.

Tony Meoli ( Mon, 25 Mar 2013 14:54:53 +0000 ) : Make the WILL NOT FIRE in BOLD before people order. You can barely read it. Who wants.22LR you need to cycle every shot? With the proliferation of AR style.22LR's outselling most everything these days, CCI is overpriced and underperforms. At.20 cents a round, this is expensive for almost useless, or at the very least, highly annoying and time-consuming, ammunition. Hold on, I need to recharge, fire, okay...let me do it again, hold on, recharge, fire - what is this ammo, the 2013 answer to a musket ball? Useless.

Q: Will shooting this in my new gun hurt it?

A: This ammo will not harm your pistol or rifle in any way. While this will not be powerful enough to cycle a semi auto action, it will still function with assistance from the shooter for chambering each round. This ammo will shoot quieter than most other subsonic rounds in .22LR.

Q: I understand this ammo will not cycle a slide in a semi-auto; however, I was curious as to how it would do in a revolver. I am imagining okay since the revolver automatically turns the cylinder as it fires to the next round. I am looking to teach my son the basics of shooting without all the noise right now.

A: This ammo will function just fine in both double action and single action revolvers. This will be a good (and quiet) way to teach your son how to shoot!

For the review about JAMS in your COLT CARBINE, read the box. These are NOT MADE for such weapons. These rounds are for single shot firearms. Disappointing and I have no reason why they would make such a round so limiting, but that's what you get in the .22LR game these days.

Supersonics are just as quiet, far less dirty and can be fired without jams in ANY weapon. This is you get what you pay for at .20 cents a round - which is expensive for such a terribly useless round. I am sorry I bought these and will not buy again.

Stick with Remington, they work just fine in any weapon at 7-10 cents a round at WalMart. (Posted on 3/25/13)

I don't yet know the terminal ballistics of this round, but it seems very effective at backyard distances. It is louder than a clap, but not by much. It works perfectly in my Savage II FV-SR bolt action. No failures. Feeds and ejects nicely. (Posted on 10/25/12)

I bought some of these for my Colt M4-A1 Carbine and this ammo gave me jams like crazy. Every round that went into the chamber I had to pull out the round manually all the time. Out of the 100 rounds I only shot 6 rounds and the rest is just sitting there in my ammo box..........my advise is buy something better!!! (Posted on 7/5/12)
