Recoil ultimately boils down to a few factors: rifle weight, bullet weight, powder weight and muzzle velocity. When you want less recoil, you traditionally would decrease the weight of the bullet or its muzzle velocity, but that leads to weaker, less effective performance for hunting.

The Core-Lokt is Remington’s tried and true design for a soft point. The bullet’s jacket extends a ring into its lead core, which keeps the two pressed together during penetration to assure a deeper wound channel. This round’s Core-Lokt achieves over 75 percent weight expansion, with up to double-diameter expansion to put big and medium deer down fast.
