These jacketed hollow-point (JHP) rounds from DRT are not only great for self-defense but have less potential for collateral damage to bystanders and the environment. DRT or Dynamic Research Technologies constructs their bullets using highly compressed metal powder cores held within a very thin jacket. The metal powder has laboratory grade consistency and is lead-free, non-toxic, and will break up when striking hard steel or concrete without risk of ricochet. Unlike typical frangible rounds, DRT projectiles can effectively penetrate light barriers like plywood, sheet metal, and bone without waiver. When these .357 SIG rounds impact a target, the hollow-point causes the jacket to peel back and disperse the total energy of the round as the powder core is spread at high speeds to create a wound cavity. The 85 grain projectiles are light for the caliber but promote high velocity, deep penetration, and low relative felt recoil.
