This .45 ACP ammunition from Hornady is one of the few +P training loads for this caliber on the market, but it's also affordable and reliable. These cartridges were designed for police training but work great for any gun owner who carries +P hollow points and wants more realistic target practice at a reasonable cost. It should only be used in firearms capable of handling +P ammunition and will work best in larger handguns like the 1911, SIG P220, or Glock 17.
Each round in this case of 500 fires a 220 grain full metal jacket bullet at a muzzle velocity of 975 feet per second, producing similar ballistics to Hornady Critical Duty defensive ammo (for which it serves as an excellent substitute on the range). To keep costs down, this ammo uses non-reloadable steel cases. With coatings applied to reduce friction, steel cases can provide reliable cycling at a fraction of the cost of brass. For shooters who don't reload (including police agencies), this is a worthwhile trade-off! This ammo uses non-corrosive Boxer primers.
Hornady products are produced in Grand Island, Nebraska. In business since the 1940s, Hornady is a well-known manufacturer of high-end reloading components, particularly bullets. Their loaded ammo enjoys a similarly high reputation, especially among CCW holders and law enforcement.
