These FC262 rounds from Federal are manufactured at the Lake City plant and closely match the specifications for the legendary MK 262 Mod 1 cartridge. As such, this 5.56mm NATO ammo exhibits excellent accuracy along with impressive terminal ballistics that have been proven in combat by U.S. snipers and designated marksmen. This performance is made possible by the inclusion of Sierra's 77 grain MatchKing (SMK) projectile which features an elongated boat-tail rear and open-tip front for match-grade drag resistance (OTM).

OTMs are manufactured by taking a precisely formed gilding metal jacket and filling its hollow mouth with lead material. This results in more consistent core segments with proper density and accurate weight. The OTM profile is capable of achieving exceptional effect on target at extreme distances but is not recommended for hunting use due to its excessive destructive capability. Other components used to complete these cartridges include non-corrosive Boxer primers adorned with moisture blocking sealant as well as annealed brass casings which are flexible enough to resist splitting for long reloading life.
