Details

Military Ballistics Industries (MBI) specializes in custom ammunition and ordinance products for use by the military, law enforcement agencies, and training facilities in the United States.

This remanufactured (reloaded in a factory) product is brass-cased, boxer-primed, non-corrosive, reloadable, and packaged in 100 round, sealed plasti-packs. It is both economical and precision manufactured by an established American cartridge producer.

The brass for this ammunition will have various headstamps and may be brass or nickel-plated brass.

Remanufactured ammunition has been around for decades. Some of the world’s best shooters use only remanufactured or custom manufactured ammunition to achieve a level of consistency and optimal ballistics performance that cannot be achieved with mass-manufactured ammunition. Remanufactured ammunition is produced by assembling carefully selected components to include specialty bullets, propellants, primers, and previously spent brass cartridge casings. The bullets, propellant, and primers are always newly manufactured while the brass cartridge casings are typically reprocessed to reduce costs or improve consistency.

This MBI product is manufactured using only the highest quality products available to ensure consistent ballistics and firing performance. The propellant is manufactured by Hodgdon, the bullets are manufactured at either the Lake City military manufacturing facilities or by Hornady, and the primers are manufactured by either CCI or Winchester. In addition to using only the best available components, MBI ammunition is assembled using some of the most modern electronic press equipment available. Because exceptional consistency is a major factor in creating accurate ammunition, a production facility that uses finely calibrated electronic press technology is key to ensuring that each shooter is well-pleased with the performance of their ammunition.

Each brass cartridge casing used to produce MBI ammunition is processed by first undergoing a lengthy mechanical cleansing process. Once cleaned, each casing is then re-calibrated by an electronic press to ensure that the final dimensions of each round are within micrometer tolerances. Each casing is then re-primed and re-charged using high-quality primer and propellants. Once the new bullet is seated using a precision-tuned electronic press, each round is hand-inspected to ensure perfection.

This product is not just remanufactured ammunition. It is “precision” remanufactured ammunition for the serious shooter. The fact that it costs less than most new ammunition is simply an added benefit.

Michael London ( Tue, 06 Aug 2013 11:54:14 +0000 ) : Ammo worked just fine. No problems. My aim, on the other hand...
Raul Acevedo ( Sun, 15 Mar 2015 00:31:22 +0000 ) : Opened up a bag of MBI 38 special. Out of 100 rounds 1 would not fit into the barrel.

Novice shooter, SW 686 SSR and SW 1911 9mm both pro-series. First 1000 rounds .38spl was great. consistent accuracy, no stuck rounds or cases. a bit dirty but compared with American Eagle this was a dream. Out of 1k about 20-30 misfires, but all eventually fired. Also purchased 2000 rnds 9mm same brand - first 1k all fired as expected, none stuck, or misfired. mild to moderate residue.
LG rocks and will continue to buy MBI as a solid, readily available and inexpensive practice round. (Posted on 5/18/15)

Eighth round a squib - be careful Review by Paul H.

In my S&W 357 Magnum the eight round was a squib and got lodged just inside barrel. I get these are reloads, but this has never happened in the years I have owned this gun with any different types of ammo I have tried. I will update this again the next time I go to the range and raise the stars if this just happened to be a fluke anomaly. (Posted on 3/17/15)

I can't shoot more than 50 rounds at a time because of a old 12ga. shotgun wound in my right shoulder from back in 1974, during a robbery attempt at a convenience store that I managed. I was shot point blank with 00 buck directly through the plate glass window I stepped in front of. I also have a 6in. rotator cuff tear in the same dominate right arm. So it took me two trips to fire all 100 rounds. However every round fired flawlessly like new ammo and I will return to buy more. (Posted on 1/28/15)

How old am I? Lets just say when I retired from KCMO. PD. we were still carrying the S&W model 10- and 15's. I still have my old service model 15 and I take it to the indoor range. I have found this particular .38 ammo works flawlessly. Never a misfire and great 158 gr ammo for me. It is so reliable I carry it in my conceal carry .38 snub nose (Posted on 12/30/14)

I use them in my old Ruger Security Six 357 for practice since this is cheaper. LG always has these at the best prices and super fast shipping. (Posted on 12/17/14)

Used 38 Special in Ruger revolver. Have fired 357 rounds through it without problem. When firing these 38 Special Rnds, One group would not even allow full closure of cylinder. Friend who is expert reloader measured rounds and found case dimensions expanded beyond specs. He has advised me to not use this ammunition. Suggest you use better quality control when selecting used cases. I will not even use rest of the 200 rounds purchased. (Posted on 1/5/14)

A lot more malfunctions than I anticipated, I shot 100 Rounds threw a .S&W 38 revolver and it was just misfire after misfire. I finally got the misfired Rounds to go off after reusing them a few times. I've shot this gun with different ammo with no problem that's why I'm blaming the ammo. At one point I had 3 failure to fire rounds out of five in one line of fire. I took that opertunity to teach my wife how to deal with malfunctions. I will buy It again just because it's cheap and I dont use for defense. Its great for malfuntion practice. Hope this helps. (Posted on 7/13/12)
