Remington is one of the oldest makers of both ammo and firearms in the United States. The Remington name is among the most recognizable in the industry and they continue to produce popular loads for rifles, pistols, and shotguns. They also make several rimfire loads, like the Cyclone 22 Long Rifle ammo.

This load is non-corrosive and brass cased with a hollow point lead bullet. This bullet type is common for 22's and offers a lot of flexibility, because they can be used for anything from casual plinking to varmint hunting. The lack of a copper jacket keeps costs low and every round has a thin waxy layer on the bullet to act as a lubricant and preservative. Remington Cyclone comes packaged in resealable bulk pack with all 500 rounds ready to go.

We used three rifles and three hand guns to test out this ammo for function and performance. Our Advantage Arms Glock Conversion Kit warns against using hollow points, but the Cyclone ammo seemed to work fairly well. We had very few reliability issues in our other guns and, overall, we were surprised not to have more feeding and ignition problems, which are common for inexpensive bulk pack 22. Like most ammo with exposed lead bullets, it did run a little dirty, but it's not a problem if you just clean your guns after you're done shooting.

To check out accuracy, we tested the Cyclone ammo in our Ruger 10/22 Target Model equipped with a bipod and a full power scope. At 50 yards, we got a pretty good group. We had relatively low expectations for this budget-priced round and were pleasantly surprised at the overall consistency we saw. With respectable accuracy and an expanding bullet, the Cyclone loads from Remington makes a great target shooting, plinking, or varmint hunting round at an affordable price.
