A: Hi Glen! Mauser began only chambering the Gewehr 98 for 8x57mm (aka 8mm Mauser or 7.92x57mm Mauser) in 1903. This ammo isn't loaded much differently from what was available when your Gewehr 98 was made, so I think it should make a good choice for target practice.

This Prvi Partizan ammunition is loaded with a standard copper jacketed, lead core projectile. This means that the projectile contains no steel and will have no issues passing a magnet test. If you need any other information about this ammunition, please do not hesitate to ask!
