A 10 Gauge shell’s great 3.5” length means it still holds 1.5 ounces of lightweight steel shot. This shell’s BB shot is optimal for geese, though ducks passing high overhead are no match for its power, either. Federal optimizes their steel shot’s pattern by forging it extra round, fitting it in a even-patterning wad (which spans the full length of the shot column to prevent damage to the bore), and loading it to a fast 1,450 fps muzzle velocity. The price you pay in the form of recoil is well worth it for such short leads and huge downrange energy.
These waterfowl loads are socketed with high performance primers and packed with uniform charges of low residue powder. 10 Gauge ammo can be hard to find in stores, but you won’t have to bother looking if you reload these shells’ durable hulls.
