Originally developed by Glaser and purchased by Corbon in 2002, the Safety Slug projectile is designed to deliver effective terminal performance for self-defense coupled with a significantly reduced chance of penetrating any walls it might strike by accident.
The Safety Slug features a traditional copper jacket, with a polymer ball for a tip to ensure reliable feeding in all semi-automatic firearms. Uniquely, the Safety Slug’s core is not made of solid lead. It is instead made of compressed #6 lead shot! When the Safety Slug hits a hard surface its polymer ball tip ruptures the scored jacket open to release hundreds of shot pellets outward. In this fashion the Safety Slug loses the momentum it would need to blast through several walls, be they in a courtroom, apartment building or aircraft.
Glaser Silver ammo has deeper penetrating bullets than Glaser Blue. That makes this 10mm ammo preferable for cold climates where a threat is more likely to wear a winter coat.
