BioAmmo has done something remarkable. They have developed a material called biopolymer – a compostable substance which is made out of plants, and which is also strong enough to replace all of a 12 Gauge shotshell’s plastic components!

Go ahead and leave this shell’s hull on the ground, if you please, and don’t worry about its wad remaining in the environment indefinitely. Microorganisms convert biopolymer into nontoxic salt and carbon dioxide in about two years time. Even this shell’s alloy head will gradually weather away into dust.

This shell is loaded with #4 shot, a fine choice for hunting turkey and other very large upland game. The Spanish manufacturer casts hard, spherical lead shot pellets, which pattern even more efficiently thanks to a wad which detaches so cleanly from the column immediately following expulsion. This shell’s 1,280 fps muzzle velocity gives its shot plenty of deadly energy to take care of the task at hand, and its wad’s hinged base helps to absorb recoil.

BioAmmo shotshells can be stored in normal conditions for at least five years.
