This 3” 12 Gauge shell has a heavy column of B shot at 1-3/8 ounces. This is because Hevi-Shot’s shot pellets are made out of a unique blend of tungsten, iron and nickel, with one or two other metals thrown in for good measure. This non-toxic alloy is soft like lead so it won’t harm a shotgun, but it is also a whole lot denser than lead at 12 g/cc.
Such hefty shot pellets maintain more velocity than traditional steel, place about 50 percent more pellets on targets at ranges beyond 40 yards, and pattern 15 percent more densely. It’s downright futuristic!
Hevi-Shot loads each of their Duck shells with a tightly crimped hull to seal out moisture, clean-burning powder, and a wad that promotes even tighter patterns as it continues cupping the shot after it has exited the muzzle at 1,450 fps.
