This 22 LR ammunition by Winchester was bred and born for self-defense applications – and we don’t imagine it would prove ineffective for varmint hunting, either!

A Silvertip 22 LR cartridge has a special 37 grain segmented hollow point bullet. As the bullet expands, it splinters apart into four separate pieces. These transfer more of the bullet’s energy whilst cutting multiple wound channels. The bullet is additionally plated for improved corrosion resistance and reliability in a variety of firearms.

Winchester designs their Silvertip 22 LR ammo specifically for handguns. It will function correctly in a rifle as well, but this round’s propellant is loaded to make sure a small pistol will cycle correctly as well as deliver sufficient energy to initiate the bullet’s segmenting terminal performance. This ammo’s 1,060 fps muzzle velocity was recorded from a short 3-1/2” barrel!

Winchester’s American-made ammo is non-corrosive, nonmagnetic and carefully loaded to ensure dependable performance when you most need it. A 22 LR handgun is not a powerhouse by any reasonable standard, but with the right ammo it is indeed capable of holding its own in a fight!
