This cartridge has an unsophisticated full metal jacket projectile. Its hard jacket and sleek profile enhance smooth feeding, prevent rapid bore fouling, and offer good target grade accuracy. There’s a cannelure around the bullet to keep the case mouth crimped securely around it. This bullet may fragment inside of soft tissue, though it will not expand.
This round’s clean-burning propellant accelerates its 55 grain bullet to a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps, delivering devastating energy up close or a flat trajectory up until about 200 yards. Winchester’s brass case is heat-treated for added durability. You’ll see the discoloration resulting from the heat-treatment process, but it will not impact performance or reloadability.
