A: Thanks for reaching out Andres! This isn't ideal home defense ammo, which isn't to say it wouldn't effectively neutralize a threat to your personal safety. This type of hollow point bullet is actually designed for greater accuracy – it will not expand as it penetrates soft tissue, which is what you want for self-defense. That said, this ammo will have fundamentally the same terminal effect as the 5.56 M193 ammunition which is issued for general field use by the U.S. Army. In other words, ammo like this is suitable for combat, so it's hardly insufficient for your purposes.
But a bullet that expands in soft tissue is best for self-defense. It doesn't just deal more damage to surrounding soft tissues; it also reduces the risk of overpenetration which could jeopardize innocent bystanders. On that note, I'm happy to say that we currently have what I consider to be the best 223 Rem home defense ammo in stock. This is what cops keep loaded in the AR-15 rifles they would use on duty. It's extremely hight quality, with a bonded soft point bullet that reliably penetrates barriers and delivers highly consistent terminal expansion. I wholeheartedly recommend Speer Gold Dot:
