Here we have an extremely versatile 223 Rem cartridge courtesy of Wolf’s Military Classic line of ammunition. It sports a 62 grain bullet, which gives it a little more momentum to help it resist wind drift and deliver greater momentum downrange. And as a soft point, its exposed lead core is able to commence rapid expansion and tumbling once it has entered soft tissue. That makes this round an appropriate choice for self-defense and varmint hunting, but thanks to the soft point’s economical design it will serve you well at the range, too! (Please note that this round’s bullet contains steel and is magnetic.)

Wolf is able to make such accessibly priced ammunition by taking full advantage of the steel shell casing. Steel casings are no good for reloading, and may let a rifle’s action foul up a little bit more as well. However, steel’s significantly lower price point than that of brass makes this ammo a lot gentler on the wallet. This round’s casing is additionally coated in a thin layer of polymer that lessens metal-on-metal contact to facilitate smooth feeding and extraction, and steel makes cleaning up after your shooting as simple as waving around a magnet. This round’s primer is a Berdan, but that doesn’t mean it’s corrosive. You can clean your rifle normally after firing this ammo and not have to fret about rust!
