This 270 WSM cartridge dominates whitetail, blacktail and elk alike thanks to its multifaceted 136 grain polymer tipped bullet. The Terminal Ascent is a match accurate bullet with its sharp polymer tip, AccuChannel groove, and deadly sleek profile. So many features that minimize drag all add up to give this round’s Terminal Ascent a G1 ballistic coefficient of .493 – sufficient to keep its trajectory flat and resistant to wind drift and still deliver over 1,600 ft lbs of energy at 500 yards like a good elk hunting bullet should.

The Terminal Ascent’s sapphire blue tip is designed to initiate expansion at velocities as little as 200 fps slower than standard polymer tips allow. As the Terminal Ascent lets loose wide yet tightly managed expansion its bonded copper shank and lead core remain knit tightly together, thus preventing the kind of fragmentation that can rob a wound channel of its potential maximum depth.

This round’s new brass case is plated with nickel, a feature which simultaneously reduces friction to enhance smoother feeding and safeguards against deleterious corrosion. This medium to large game round has Federal’s best primer-propellant pairing to ensure reliable ignition and consistent ballistic performance.
