A classic cartridge with a modern hunting bullet, this 30-06 ammo by SIG Sauer is loaded with a 150 grain solid copper hollow point. Right off the bat, you already know this ammo is a perfect choice for hunting wherever lead projectiles aren’t welcome. But that’s hardly the only reason you should test it out on deer, elk or anything else you would hunt with a 30-06!

A monolithic bullet hasn’t got a jacket. That means it hasn’t got any flaws in its concentricity that could throw off its balance in flight, and it also means the bullet cannot undergo core/jacket separation during penetration. The tough copper bullet consistently retains at least 95 percent of its weight – even following high-velocity impact – which is the secret behind its consistently deep penetration!

Many hollow point rifle bullets are designed solely for accuracy. This round’s SCHP isn’t one of them. It begins to widen out as soon as it pierces the quarry’s hide, which produces the wide wound channel and crippling energy transferral that’ll knock said quarry clean off its hooves or trotters.

SIG’s nickel-plated case provides two key advantages: smoother feeding, and greater protection against corrosion than pure brass alone. This round’s clean-burning powder launches its 150 grain grain bullet to a muzzle velocity of 2,920 fps. You can reasonably expect the 0.400 G1 BC bullet to stay supersonic until approximately 1,025 yards.
