This 300 AAC Blackout cartridge from Hornady features the Nebraskan manufacturer’s own 110 grain GMX projectile. The GMX is made of copper alloy, which is even tougher than pure copper, so it is able to retain as much as 95 percent of its weight while expanding up to 1.5 times its original diameter during penetration. The nature of this bullet’s monolithic construction means that it is legal for use in California and in other areas where toxic projectiles are banned.

The GMX delivers an excellent ballistic coefficient thanks to its streamlined polymer tip, which further serves to initiate rapid expansion upon penetration. The sleek bullet’s cannelure and pressure relieving grooves act to reduce bearing surface, lead fouling, and drag as well.

Hornady’s rigorous attention to detail ensures that this round’s other components are worthy of its hard-hitting bullet. The round’s brass casing and non-corrosive primer not only assure that it feeds smoothly and will last on a shelf for a long time, but also make it reloadable. This cartridge’s propellant reliably delivers a fast 2,285 fps muzzle velocity, nicely complementing its bullet’s terminal performance.
