Suppose you want to fire 5.56x45 ammunition that was loaded by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, the U.S. Armed Forces chief ammo supplier. You could very well go and join the Army and soon you’ll have access to that ammo for free.

But suppose you’re a fat, old, bald man (like me). The Recruiting Command is going to very politely tell you that they’re not really looking for anyone right now. So what does that mean? That you can never fire the LAACP’s 5.56x45 ammo? Not remotely! Thanks to Federal (and Lucky Gunner) you can order a whole case of M193 right to your doorstep!

This is the basic ammo issued for the M16A1 rifle, but it’s absolutely perfect for the civilian’s AR-15 as well. Each cartridge has a simple FMJ bullet to ensure reliable feeding and limited barrel leading, with a boat tail that helps the bullet stay faster as it travels farther and farther downrange. That nonmagnetic bullet is paired with a non-corrosive primer and charge of clean-burning propellant, as well as a new production brass case.
