Do you want make beautiful music with steel targets, but don’t want to dance around avoiding dangerous ricochets? Then the ammo you want is called “frangible,” and the good folks over at SinterFire pioneered it!

The full metal jacket bullet that is typically used for target practice is made of solid lead and copper. It’s a cost-effective bullet, but it also becomes a dangerous one when it runs into a solid steel target, concrete partition, or rock that’s concealed beyond your range’s backdrop. A frangible bullet, on the other hand, is made out of copper and tin powders that have been compressed and heat-treated until they form a solid.

This 5.56x45 round’s bullet has a conventional weight at 55 grains, and as such offers normal ballistic performance. Its bullet is anything conventional, however, as it erupts into lead-free dust the instant it connects with its target. For close quarters training and slapping steel, the safety offered by a frangible bullet just can’t be beat!

Many people ask us if they can use frangible ammo for self-defense. Our answer is absolutely! While it may not expand inside soft tissue like a soft point or polymer tip, the mass of this round’s bullet means it conveys comparable energy to a self-defense load on impact. Furthermore, a frangible bullet’s tendency to disintegrate upon hitting multiple walls may make it safer for home defense when bystanders’ safety is also at stake.

This ammo’s brass cases are discolored around their necks, evincing their proper heat-treatment during production. Once such a supple case is empty it makes a fine reloading component! These rounds’ high quality Boxer primers and propellant will keep you shooting instead of manually ejecting dud after dud.
