As the age of revolutionary precision rifle calibers sets upon us, so do our choices for inexpensive practice in blooming calibers like Hornady's 6.5mm Creedmoor. This ammo belongs to Federal's American Eagle line, a brand that delivers excellent quality to shooters at a lower price point than premium rounds while still offering recoil and ballistic trajectories similar to top-shelf hunting and match options. As such, this cartridge profile is built around a 120-grain open-tip match (OTM) projectile that is extremely accurate. That makes this round a great option for target practice and zeroing new scopes.

OTM bullets are made by feeding lead into copper jacket through their hollow noses, granting them lead cores of consistent density and balance and outer jackets that are unmarred in the manufacturing process. As a result, the rounds are extremely stable in flight and capable of making it out to long distances with very little disturbance. The lighter 120-grain bullet is capable of high speeds, flat travel, and great terminal energy. Federal crimps each projectile into a reloadable brass casing which is filled clean-burning powder capable of operating semi-automatic platforms. The powder is ignited by Federal's own non-corrosive Boxer primer which won't eat away at your match-grade barrel.
