How does this 9mm cartridge reduce felt recoil? Well, recoil energy is the product of firearm weight, propellant weight, bullet weight and muzzle velocity. By loading this round’s lighter-than-typical 100 grain bullet to a standard 1,125 fps muzzle velocity, Hornady effectively mitigates the amount of muzzle flip you’ll have to compensate for while you’re attempting to direct rapid, accurate fire at a threat.
Its featherweight bullet does limit the amount of energy this round can transfer to its target, but it is loaded with an exceptional jacketed hollow point to make up for that shortcoming. The Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) features a large polymer plug in its nose cavity. This prevents fabric or other debris from clogging up the bullet before it can expand inside of soft tissue, making it an altogether more reliable solution for personal protection.
This ammo is loaded with Hornady’s best brass and primers, as well as specially formulated low-flash propellant that will help to preserve your night vision. A portion of Hornady’s proceeds from this ammo goes to support breast cancer research. That’s shooting for a good cause!
