Open Tip Match, often referred to as OTM, is a general classification of bullets which are most often used for competition, thus the "Match" portion of the name. For example, the Sierra Match King (SMK) bullet is one of the most popular OTM bullets. Federal Gold Medal Match and Hornady Superformance Match are two examples of OTM ammunition. Although similar in appearance to a traditional hollow point, these are not designed to expand. The cavity is unintentional and is a result of the manufacturing process.
OTM rounds tend to be much more accurate than Full Metal Jacket bullets, making them a prime choice for shooters who need extreme accuracy.
