The slug itself is made entirely of lead, weighs in at one ounce, and has a rifled body with a rounded ogive and flat nose. The rifling interacts with a smoothbore barrel in order to produce spin stability in-flight for indelible accuracy out to medium distances. Since the slug has a flattened nose, it can be expected to create a large entry hole into a deer or threat target for faster bleeding as it experiences mild deformation in the target, smashing outwardly as it transfers greater energy to the vital organs. Remington uses a 2-3/4 inch format for this shell's hull which makes it compatible with the chamber of nearly every 12 gauge shotgun on the market.
