You don’t have to drive a hybrid car and go to drum circles just because you want to help preserve the environment. That’s why if you enjoy hunting upland game, you may wish you didn’t have to leave behind so many plastic hulls and wads. Well, here’s what your nagging conscience has been asking for: BioAmmo 12 Gauge ammo!

BioAmmo is headquartered in Santa Maria la Real de Nieva, Spain, and their shotshells feature something truly cutting-edge. Their wads and hulls are made of a proprietary vegetable-based plastic substitute, so they’ll eventually rot away into nothing wherever they fall. Bacteria turn the components into carbon dioxide, water and mineral salts that won’t pollute the environment! Do note that complete decomposition may take up to two years, but that’s still a lot less time than plastic will remain intact for.

This shell’s #8 lead shot is a perfect size for hunting smaller birds like quail and woodcock. Its hinged wad has four longitudinal slits that create four symmetrical petals following ignition, which promote a more consistent pattern as the wad quickly detaches from the shot.

BioAmmo shotshells can be stored in normal conditions for at least five years.
