This is specialty 12 Gauge ammunition, made by Remington for law enforcement professionals who need to breach doors while minimizing the chance of harming themselves and those around them. But you can own it too – and it’s not just good for breaching!

This shell is loaded with 27 pellets of frangible #4 buckshot. Unlike traditional solid lead shot pellets, this shell’s shot is made of compressed metal powders that will disintegrate when they collide with a hard surface. In the field this is very useful, as frangible shot pellets will demolish a door and its handle while drastically reducing the chance of a piece of lead deflecting back toward the shooter. But because this ammo makes it so much safer to fire at nearby solid surfaces, it is also a natural pick for training with steel targets.

We wish to emphasize that this is not “less lethal” ammunition. Frangible shot pellets are hard, and may not necessarily disintegrate when they hit soft tissue or even wall board. This shot could theoretically be used for home defense when you want to minimize the chance of penetrating walls and jeopardizing innocent bystanders, but it is by no means guaranteed to prevent wall penetration altogether.
