At three inches long, this 12 Gauge Ultimate Defense shotshell is able to hold a whopping payload: forty one pellets of #4 buck. With their combined weight of 848.7 grains, this shell’s projectiles will exit the barrel at 1,225 fps to collectively transfer an overwhelming 2,828 ft lbs of muzzle energy. Heck, even a single pellet of this shell’s #4 buck inflicts greater energy than a whole 25 ACP bullet alone!

Number 4 buck is a good selection for hunting deer and predators, but it’s exceedingly popular for home defense as well. The smaller pellets fit more to a shell, so you’re guaranteed a dense spread when you’re trying to floor a malevolent intruder. Number 4 buck is less capable of neutralizing a target over long distances than double-aught, but long distances are unlikely to exist within your homestead. And since these .13” diameter pellets are less likely to penetrate walls, they’re relatively safer to fire indoors as well!

This shell’s black plastic hull makes it easier to pick out your home defense load when you’re in a hurry, and its round brass head assures unproblematic extraction when you need to fire a fast follow-up shot. Remington’s primer and propellant are both engineered to burn especially clean, so residue accumulation won’t impact your nightstand weapon’s efficacy during an altercation.
