TSS is a special alloy of tungsten, nickel and iron. Whereas lead has a density of 11.34 g/cc, TSS has a density of 18.1 g/cc. What this means is simple: A #9 TSS pellet weighs approximately the same as a #4 lead pellet, so resists crosswinds just about as effectively, hits a turkey just about as hard, and penetrates it just about as deeply. But since you’re firing 498 #9 TSS pellets instead of just 186 #4 lead shot pellets, you’re putting a whole lot more holes through your bird’s head and neck.
Do you use steel shot because it is nontoxic? This shell’s TSS is just as nontoxic as steel, but it is also 2.3 times denser. That makes Fiocchi Golden Turkey TSS ammo an outstanding choice for turkey hunting in areas where lead is a no-no!
TSS’s final blessing is its outstanding hardness. The pressure it is subjected to during ignition is not enough to deform TSS, which provides consistent patterning alongside Fiocchi’s high-quality wads, primers and powder.
