The number in its brand name alludes to what makes this shell special. Its #7 Tungsten Super Shot has a density of 18.0 g/cc. That’s around 64% denser than lead, which is why a #7 TSS pellet strikes over half as hard as a #7 lead one when they’re both traveling at the same velocity.
A #7 lead pellet would be undersized for taking toms. But because a #7 TSS pellet weighs roughly the same as a #4 lead one, you’re not forfeiting any stopping power by moving down to such a smaller size. Naturally, smaller shot means a denser pattern. You’ll effectively put more holes through your bird, each of which only increases your chance at total success.
Lest there be any doubt, TSS is lead-free. You can hunt with it wherever you can’t hunt with lead!
