If you’re after authentic Russian ammunition for your Makarov, you’re in the right place. This box of 9x18mm Makarov rounds from the venerable Barnaul Cartridge Plant’s Silver Bear line holds 50 berdan-primed steel cases, each carrying a 94 grain jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullet. The bullet’s core is lead, but the jacket is made of a bi-metal alloy that will attract a magnet. Berdan-primed ammunition is not reloadable, but the berdan primer design does give ammunition an extremely long shelf life. These 9mm Makarov rounds have cases coated in zinc for greater durability and smooth feeding. All in all, this is a durable, reliable round that’s perfect for long-term storage.

9x18mm Makarov (also called 9mm Makarov and 9x18mm PM) was designed by B. V. Semin in the mid-1940s as a replacement for the Soviet Union’s 7.62x25mm Tokarev round. Nikolay Makarov went on to design his famous pistol around the cartridge, resulting in the reliable blowback pistol many know and love today.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 9x18mm Makarov rounds are NOT compatible with 9x19mm Parabellum (9mm Luger) firearms. 9x18mm Makarov will chamber in a 9mm Luger pistol, but the bullet is too large for the barrel and will cause a catastrophic malfunction that could easily cause injury or death to the operator. If you aren’t sure, check with your firearm’s manufacturer or owner’s manual.
