#5 Shot

#5 Birdshot is about 3.05 mm (0.120") in diameter. While it comes in lead or steel, lead shot has been outlawed in some states.

It is primarily used for hunting pheasant, grouse and partridge, and turkey at close range. For pheasant, use an Improved Cylinder choke for close cover and a Modified or Full choke for long cornfield shots. For grouse and partridge, use and Improved Cylinder or Modified choke for brush work and a Full choke for the open range. Turkey hunters should always use a full choke.
