Is a plastic ammo can – or field box, as it is commonly known – just as strong as a steel one? Heavens to Murgatroyd, no it is not! But it is a lot more affordable, and if you don’t necessarily need a container that’s rated to withstand the rigors of combat then you will find Uncle Mike’s .30 cal field box a perfectly serviceable solution for all your ammo storage and transport needs!

This handy unit’s interior dimensions are roughly 10" x 3.5" x 6.5”. That’s all the space you need to store about 600 loose rounds of 5.56/223, or twice as many loose rounds of 9mm. While the field box is made of plastic, it is high-quality plastic, and won’t soon become brittle and crack. A folding handle atop the lid makes it easy to move your ammo trove to and fro, and a rubber gasket beneath the lid helps to seal out harmful humidity.
