Those who like to get up close and bring down deer and other game with buckshot would do well to give this Federal Power-Shok 12 gauge ammunition a try. Power-Shok ammo is designed to deliver consistent results while being affordable for high volume or budget conscious use. This is a relatively powerful load intended for medium range sporting use, though it can be used for home protection in sparsely populated areas where overpenetration is less of a concern.
Each 2-3/4" shell in this box of 25 fires a nine pellet column of 00 buckshot at 1,325 feet per second. This muzzle velocity is typical of hunting loads and produces heavy recoil but also good effective range and strong penetration. Since a hunter only gets one or two shots at his or her quarry, this is a worthwhile tradeoff. 00 buckshot is the most commonly used of the larger shot sizes; its pellets measure .33" or 8.38 millimeters. This load uses polymer buffers and Triple Plus wads to reduce shot deformation and enhance accuracy.
Federal Power-Shok ammo is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota. Established in the 1920s, Federal is a well-known ammunition manufacturer that belongs to the Vista Outdoor group of shooting-related companies.
