Purchased this ammo for my 22/45 Lite. Accuracy was very bad and a lot of it would keyhole at 7 yards. Had gunsmith check my pistol for problems and found that it was this ammo. Gun is very accurate with other brands of ammo

Best groups of the 3 I tried.
Review by Krb
I've used rem ammo for years. Found the groups to be inconsistent this year. Had 3 boxes of these and tried them and what do you know. 1/2 " at 100. Rem isn't what it used to be.

Best 9mm duty ammo
Review by Airwreck
I’ve tried Speer Gold Dot, Remington Golden Sabers, Hornady Critical Duty/Defense, Winchester Defender/Ranger, even the Black Talons back in the day. This ammo gives the best and most consistent penetration and expansion, ensuring catastrophic tissue trauma. Don’t think twice. Buy this ammo in bulk.

Love this round. I use it in my carry which is a NHC Border Special. Proper grip helps a lot with recoil and I find that it is great for my particular combo. NHC mags, Border Special 3 mags during carry. My USMC was able to retain 1911s for a long time after the rest of the Fleet went to 9mm and I wouldn't use ball rounds for SD. Yes, it is doable but over penetration can occur and short of a CNS hit or blood vessel it isn't the fastest fight stopper. I did have a bad day and had to use it against a person and ball rounds seem a bit low performance for doped up bad guys.
Yes, shot placement matters but in my experience shot placement isn't always perfection and if you are using your pistol vs HK M27 short barrel you are probably not having a great day. In my personal opinion this is a great round if you are carrying 45acp. I also carry a NHC Sandhawk or TRS commander when I am feeling pretty and spicy and the 9mm version of the HST is also something to look at.

This ammo is garbage in my opinion. I tried it in a Ruger and also a Glock. At least 66% of the time the gun would jam regardless of whether it was the Ruger or the Glock. I compared it with some other ammo I had and that ammo worked fine. I also discovered that 22 caliber guns are not nearly as reliable as 9 mm. I’m not going to carry a gun that’s unreliable. this is also my second Ruger where I had a problem. I had a 9 mm that also jammed. I would not recommend Ruger products for handguns.

First Choice for Many LEO Organizations
Review by Warren
This review of Federal HST ammunition is written from a personal-defense perspective. I choose HST for its reputation for safety, reliability, consistent quality, and modern engineering. It is the preferred ammunition of many federal and local law-enforcement agencies; for more than a decade, those agencies have selected HST when officers’ lives and public safety are on the line. For that reason, I’m confident using the same ammunition professionals trust, HST.
