This isn’t a Tungsten Super Shot (TSS) load. Its lower price tag makes that fact crystal clear. Its #4 lead shot is special for a number of reasons, though. Each pellet is plated in copper, which hardens it against deformation on ignition (to promote tighter patterning) and impact (to promote deeper penetration). The shot column is packed with Grex: supple plastic granules that soak up recoil energy to further improve patterning. And because this is a 3-1/2” shell, it packs a lot of shot. Counted all together, the magnum shell’s payload gains a 3,283 muzzle energy. That’s more than a 270 Win!
You’ll be glad the 10 Gauge shotgun is heavier when you fire this ammo. It’s been “blessed” with heavy recoil, and it hasn’t got a modern hinged wad to mitigate your perception of that fact. At least you’ll be in better shape than the turkey.
