Underwood often loads projectiles by America’s most reputable projectile manufacturers. True to form, they have loaded this 10mm cartridge with the same jacketed hollow point which Speer utilizes in their Gold Dot series ammo – one of the most popular choices among law enforcement professionals in the country!

This round’s 165 grain bullet possesses a bonded jacket and core. Speer achieves this through their proprietary Uni-Cor method, where the alloyed lead core is electrochemically bonded to its jacket one single molecule at a time. As the result the Gold Dot JHP is virtually incapable of core/jacket separation, thus ensuring it retains the weight requisite for deep penetration even if it must first pierce thick clothing or tough hide.

The Gold Dot JHP’s nose cavity is formed via a sequence of consecutive die presses. The first die press establishes the width to which the bullet can expand. The second controls the rate at which expansion can take place. The result is extremely reliable terminal ballistics, and a bullet which also feeds very smoothly at that.

Underwood helps this ammo’s stellar self-defense and hunting bullets feed even smoother by seating them in low-friction nickel-plated brass cases. Nickel is also resistant to corrosion, and Underwood’s flash-suppressed powder won’t immediately blind you should you have to open fire in low lighting.
