This 12 Gauge hunting load features something we don’t see all that much of: #2 lead shot, which is WAY too big for taking daintier upland game, but which is quite talented at dropping larger critters like fox squirrels, raccoons, bobcats, and even coyotes within reasonable distances. Some even swear by it for home defense (though we’d personally rather always have buckshot, which #2 shot ain’t).
A Remington Express Extra Long Range (XLR) shotshell is a worthy home for so talented a shot pellet. Remington’s beads are hard and round, and their wads pattern them narrowly – all reasons why you can expect the shell to place a large percentage of its 109 shot pellets exactly on target. This qualifies as a “juicy” shell as well, given its 1,330 fps muzzle velocity which (A) leaves target loads in the dust, and (B) delivers #2 shot to its target with ample striking power, quickly.
