Whereas steel has a density of 8 g/cc, bismuth has a density of 9.6 g/cc which is much nearer to that of lead. That’s why bismuth flies farther, hits harder, and outperforms steel in every way for hunting! Bismuth is also more affordable than tungsten, nonmagnetic, and safe in all shotguns including older, more delicate models.
This shell’s #3 shot is a great pick for ducks and smaller geese. The 1-1/4 ounce charge of shot loaded to a fast 1,330 fps muzzle velocity is going to pack some kick, no doubt about it, but its range and pattern make heavier recoil well worth it. This shell also has Federal’s FliteControl Flex wad to heighten accuracy as it continues stabilizing the shot well after it has exited the muzzle.
Federal gives this shell their own high-performance primer, precision formulated powder, and reloadable plastic hull. You can reload it with whatever kind of shot you please, be it bismuth or otherwise!
