But supposing you want to compete using the most elite ammo you can find? Well, in that case, you’re currently paying attention to the only webpage you’ll ever need.
This AA Diamond Grade shell is loaded with what Winchester claims to be the hardest shot available. It is cast from lead that has been alloyed with 8% antimony. That’s high antimony content, which does indeed have the welcome effective of hardening the lead to a fare thee well. Winchester then plates the pellet with copper – a metal that is substantially harder than lead.
And what do such extraordinarily hard #7.5 shot pellets do? They resist flattening down or otherwise becoming misshapen under the force of ignition, and emerge from the muzzle with all the sphericity they need to:
• Encounter minimal frontal air resistance
• Pattern extra close together
• Carry superior clay-cracking energy to the target
Wow! All that and Winchester’s recoil-reducing AA wads, plus beautiful black hulls with low-friction nickel-plated brass heads. Does it get any better than that?
It does not.
