There are many good reasons to want reduced recoil from your trap, skeet, or sporting clays ammunition. Perhaps you’re honing your skill at cracking two clays in fast succession, and would like to spend less time learning to overcome muzzle flip. Maybe your shoulder hurts after trying too violently to start up your old lawnmower. Maybe you’re doing your part to ensure that the next generation will love shooting as much as we do, and want a shell that won’t knock a child on his hinder. In any event, Federal’s Gold Medal Extra-Lite 12 Gauge ammunition will serve you well.

This shotshell is loaded with a conventional 1-1/8 ounce column of #8 lead shot, a preferred shot size for all the target shooting arts. It is loaded to a muzzle velocity 1,100 fps, however, which is about 100 fps less than a standard target shell. That velocity doesn’t just produce less recoil – it also lies beneath the sound barrier, helping to produce less flinch-inducing report!

But Federal hasn’t changed anything to make this shell anything less than representative of their usual and consistently high quality. Ther hard, uniformly sized and spherical shot pellets create the dense pattern that is indispensable for satisfying clay busting. Their non-corrosive 209 primer lights up fast to ignite clean burning propellant, and their hull cycles efficiently whether it’s the first or umpteenth time you’ve passed it through your shotgun.
