(We’ve actually gotten emails from pheasants begging us to stop carrying this ammunition. We ignore them because no bird is going to tell Lucky Gunner what to do.)
This shell has a substantial 1-3/8 ounce load of #4 shot. That’s approximately 185 pellets total, which is enough to send a dense spray of hot death in whichever direction you please. Don’t expect low recoil from this shell. Its 1,485 fps muzzle velocity is going to kick pretty good, but you’ll see far more downrange killing energy as the result.
The coup de grâce is the shot’s nickel plating. That hard outer shell prevents the lead shot from flat spotting as it’s accelerated so rapidly, thus assuring it stays round and aerodynamic so it can pattern tightly over great distances.
Fiocchi’s priming compound and powder are both formulated to minimize residue accumulation within a shotgun. This shell’s gold-colored hull, once emptied, makes a fine reloading component!
