This shell is loaded with approximately 497 #8-1/2 shot pellets. They aren’t just a middle ground between two more popular shot sizes. They are also made of lead that has been hardened with antimony, so they withstand the force of ignition without becoming too misshapen to pattern tightly. Winchester’s AA wad is hinged to further minimize recoil’s effect on the shot.
This is an Xtra-Lite target load, with a dram equivalent of 2-3/4 (as opposed to 3, as would have been the case were its muzzle velocity ~1,235 fps instead of 1,180). Primary benefit? Lighter felt recoil!
