This 12 Gauge shell by Black Aces Tactical wants for nothing as far as power is concerned. Its one ounce slug is loaded to a spicy, supersonic muzzle velocity of 1,640 fps, so it hits at close range with well over 2,500 ft lbs of energy. That’s about twice as much oomph as a 223 Rem – not to mention the fact that a solid lead slug makes a substantially wider wound channel than any old .224” diameter bullet.

Black Aces Tactical is better known for their shotguns, which they make for the American market in the great state of Florida. They actually recruited Clever, a specialized shotshell manufacturer based in Italy, to make their 12 Gauge slugs. Clever has been in business since 1952 and currently loads about half a million shotshells every day. They’re doing big numbers, but they’re still dearly committed to giving shooters consistent quality. Black Aces chose to have these shells’ heads coated with zinc for added corrosion resistance and smoother feeding and extraction.

Rifled slugs are what you want for smoothbore shotguns.
