This shell is a large lad: 3-1/2” long, 1-3/8 ounces of steel shot, loaded to a muzzle velocity of 1,470 fps. All that shot’s going to rip out of the muzzle with a combined energy of 2,886 ft lbs. Lightweight steel pellets lose their momentum faster than lead, but a Mach 1.3 muzzle velocity does help a lot to compensate for that.
You get the pattern you want for waterfowl hunting out of this ammo, too. Fiocchi’s round shot pellets are zinc-plated, which guards them against the wetlands’ moisture and keeps them smooth enough for straight flight. A protective wad pushes all 99 or so pellets down the barrel, so you don’t have to worry about scratching your bore.
Fiocchi sounds like an Italian company – and they very much are. But they manufacture all of the shotshells they sell in America right in Ozark, MO.
