This shotgun shell features a charge of shot that would have been right at home in a 20 Gauge. Even 24 grams (~7/8 ounces) of #9 shot still equals nearly 500 shot pellets, so you won’t be hurting in the pattern density department. The shell’s light payload enables it to deliver at 1,330 fps muzzle velocity – nuclear hot, as far as most target loads go – but without exceeding safe chamber pressure (3-1/4 dram equivalent).
This shell’s wad does two important things: preserve the spherical profiles the shot pellets need to string efficiently, and reduce the amount of recoil the shooter feels. It does these by compressing on ignition, thereby absorbing recoil energy that might otherwise have had undesirable effects on overall performance.
