This is a long, 3” 20 Gauge shotshell, and accordingly has the capacity it needs to accommodate a king size 1-1/4 ounces of shot. You’ll find #5 shot of especial utility for hunting pheasant, as well as turkey at closer ranges. (Although #5 shot can certainly return a smaller bird to earth, its larger size and momentum may mangle a trophy too much to bother.)
Fiocchi fortifies their lead shot with antimony, thus preventing it from deforming as it’s subjected to heavy pressure. The ancient Italian manufacturer pairs fast burning propellant and a non-corrosive primer to deliver this shell’s shot out of the muzzle at 1,200 fps, yet their cushioned wad takes a good deal of the recoil out of so firing so heavy a shot column. This shell’s sturdy brass head features a slightly thicker rim to promote more reliably extraction before you’re ready to line up your next shot.
