This shotshell’s single ounce of #3 steel shot is actually composed of two different types of shot pellets. Three-fifths of the shot column is Federal’s Premium steel shot, which is smooth, spherical and tight-patterning enough to remain effective over surprisingly long distances. Two-fifths of the shot column is Federal’s own Flitestopper pellets. These have sharp ridges around their middles, which enable them to gouge deadly wide wound channels in their paths.
This shell is compatible with ported and standard chokes alike thanks to its FliteControl Flex wad. It prevents the hard steel pellets from scraping up the bore, and upon expulsion erects multiple petals around its rear. Alongside its side-mounted vents, the FliteControl Flex’s fins provide the clean detachment which leads to an extremely dense and effective shot pattern.
