Cloverleafs at 50 yards
Was able to cloverleaf 3-4 shots into a paper plate at 50 yards using a 15 year old off-the-rack Remington 870 with a 20" barrel (no mods and slightly neglected). Was shocked because I've never been a shotgun guy (though I shoot a lot of rifle and handgun). I didn't think slugs would do that. Also, I was using nothing but irons. I've been able to do this multiple times over the years using different lots of shells.
I know some shotguns just "like" certain ammo, and it's an individual-gun thing. I think that is the case here. For instance, I also tried lots of premium Federal and other brands and got nowhere near the consistency of this Dual Bond out of my gun. Another 870 might have different results. You really need to buy a bunch of shells and just keep firing until you get "the one" for you. When you do, stop messing around. Lock it in and leave it alone.
As for performance, I've dropped whitetail without any problem. Just as effective as 12 ga. I usually bow hunt, but when I use hunt with a gun it is loaded with this shell. Lucky Gunner's price is way better than I get anywhere else. Especially off-season.
Is it "the best"? That depends on you and your gun. But I have a good feeling it is "better than good" for most shooters. Enjoy.
